Ruremesha vows to end trophy drought

AFTER signing a new deal, Emmanuel Ruremesha has vowed to revive Rayon Sports’ glorious days by steering the club to a title in the coming season. The 37-year-old was offered a one-year renewable contract last week and in an interview with Times Sport yesterday, promised to repay the club’s faith in him. “This is a huge club and I want to thank the administration for entrusting me with the job,” he said. “My priority is simple - to win a trophy in the coming season but to do that, I need the support and backing of the players, fans and the club management.” “I cannot specify which trophy is more important but what the club needs now is to win a trophy,” Ruremesha added. Ruremesha joined the Blues towards the end of last season on a three-month contract, which expired in July. During that period, he guided Rayon to the MTN Peace Cup final only to lose out to APR 0-1. Rayon also climbed one spot to eventually finish third in the Primus league which was claimed by APR. Rayon last won the league title in 2004 so in a bid to try and push for another title, the club is trying to raise a Rwf50 million kitty to bolster the squad with a couple of new signings. Already, Albert Nyumbayire, Aimable Rucogoza and Simon Chipangara from DRC have been offered two-year deals but the club’s Secretary General Olivier Gakwaya recently said that Rayon would bring in more players. “We are scouting for more players and very soon, you will see new additions to the team. We need a trophy this season - it is as simple as that,” Gakwaya said. Ends
