National team manager, Jean Pierre Bavuzingango told Times Sport on Monday that they are set to meet as a technical committee to discuss on which player(s) to invite. We are holding a technical committee in the coming days to discuss the team’s preparations and the issue of professional players will also be discussed. At the moment I can not reveal the names or exact number of professionals we intend to summon, Bavuzingango said. However, the identity of the country with which Amavubi Stars will play against in the first build-up scheduled for February 6th is yet to be confirmed. But according to the team manager, several countries among them Burkina Faso and Kenya) have been contacted. Initially, top countries like Egypt, Zambia (plus Burkina Faso and Kenya) had been talked about as possible opponents for Amavubi’s build-up matches as part if its preparation for the 2010 WC/CAN qualifiers. According to sources at Ferwafa, Amavubi will plan up to four build-up matches before hosting Mauritania on May 31 at Amahoro stadium in the opening game of the qualifiers. After Mauritius at home, Obradovic Tomisilav’s side will travel to Addis Ababa to face Ethiopia on June 7 before hosting Morocco at Amahoro on June 14. Amavubi will then fly to Rabat on June 21 for a return leg against the Northern African giants. On September 7, the 2007 Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup losing finalists head to Nouakchott for the return leg against Mauritania before winding up the campaign at home when Ethiopia are the visitors.
