MTN unveils Rwf30M service centre

NYAGATARE - In a bid to extend its service delivery to clients, MTN Rwanda this week launched a new Customer Service Centre (CSC) worth Rwf 30 million in Nyagatare District, Eastern Province. The service centre, according to MTN officials, is the tenth to open upcountry. Speaking at the opening of the new centre, Norman Munyampundu, Senior Manager, Customer Operations, stated that opening these centres across the country has been a strategic investment to ensure that the company remains within an arm’s length of anyone seeking to use telecommunication services. “We are going further than other telecommunications companies in Rwanda to take customer service to every customer in every corner of this country,” he said. He urged Nyagatare residents to use the centre as their easiest service provider, saying that among the services on offer are data activation, business solution support, SIM Swaps and bill payments. “There are better services you will get here, including ‘Mobile money’, where you will receive and transfer money to your friends and relatives,” he said. Munyampundu added that it was the company’s increased number of subscribers that enabled them to open more service centres. He revealed that MTN Rwanda’s customer base has grown to over 2.3 million over the last 18 months; their fastest growth rate since the company opened in 1998. Nyagatare District Mayor, Fred Atuhe Sabiti, urged residents to join such telecommunication companies calling them the main tool for sustainable development. “These companies play big roles in the development of the country…look at services like mobile money, a parent can send money to his child at school without leaving his area of residence. You should utilize these services,” he said.Sabiti said that in recent years, the district was underdeveloped but is currently fourth after Kigali City districts. “This rapid development is facilitated by access to communicationon the part of our our residents and these companies have played a crucial role,” he said.
