It’s a recipe for disaster When a relationship ends, it’s hard to know where in your life to relegate your old flame. Apparently, men are the ones who can’t let go. According to a Public Opinion Strategies poll, 50 percent of single men still pine over an old flame compared to just 27 percent of single women. Whichever way it is, friendship with the ex is something that most times ends up disastrous. Why not just admit that it was great knowing each other then move on to better things without locking yourselves in the past. Of what benefit or advantage is the ex’s friendship? I am not saying you can’t be civil with each other but must you carry out the whole platonic procedure? You are always texting each other and wondering where they might be . You hang around the same places and in the same circles. You have a history so potent it could bring down the planet but for some reason you are just friends! I not only find that strange but utterly ridiculous. You have been giggling and flirting with each other the whole time and before you know it casual sex won’t seem like such a bad thing. I mean, what’s the big deal right? That’s what you’ll be telling yourselves. If you broke up and want nothing to do with each other anymore then you have no business being bosom buddies let alone sleeping together! Why torment yourself like that? You are out looking for the next best thing but for some reason can’t let go of the old one. That’s exactly what it means- failure to move on. You can bump into each other and say a quick hello but exchanging contacts is just unnecessary and crossing the line if you ask me. I’m thinking your current squeeze won’t like it that much either. Ex’s should be just that- ex’s! The ex friend is a dangerous game and can only be played if you trust yourself. Other than that, I sternly warn you to stay away. I get that sometimes it’s harmless but from the stories that have been told, I’m thinking it is best to be safe than sorry. What happens when your friendship turns into what you call a harmless fling? The ex-girl then gets pregnant and then you have to explain to your current girl that the ex is pregnant! How humiliating is that? I know it doesn’t always end up like this but is it worth the risk? If you have your new honey at home just doing everything a girlfriend should, do not insult her by parading your ex as the long lost friend you found! My guess is you wouldn’t like that either. cjanzi83@yahoo.co.uk
