Tigo rewards clients in ‘call for free’ bonanza

Tigo Rwanda has launched a week-long promotion in which prepaid mobile phone subscribers can enjoy endless free calls from midnight to 17.59 hrs the next day. The promotion dubbed ‘Tigo Crazy Week’, according to officials at Tigo head offices, Muhima, is a response to market dynamics and a boost to government’s vision to increase mobile phone penetration to all parts of the country. ”We are responding to the market. Given that Tigo is a dynamic company, we are committed to government’s vision of increasing mobile phone penetration to all parts of the country. This is also a way of celebrating the attaining of over 500,000 subscribers on our network,” said Diego Camberos, Head of Territory Management. According to Nina Ndabaneze, Marketing Manager, as the ‘Tigo Crazy Week’ runs all prepaid subscribers with 2G-3G prepaid connections will be eligible to make a call until the 5th minute and thereafter get net calls free of charge. The maximum call duration is 30 minutes. ”We want our customers to keep enjoying great tariffs at affordable prices and this is also another way for us to celebrate the success that Tigo has enjoyed. This promotion is aligned with our triple ‘A’ strategy for emerging markets which is affordability, availability and accessibility of our products and services,” Ndabaneze said. “Tigo is committed to increasing our customers’ experience and by that we mean making sure we keep on providing a great service, affordable products and services, allow our customers to talk freely to their friends and family without worrying too much about the cost and without compromising quality,” she added. Tigo recently surpassed Rwandatel as the second most subscribed-to mobile telecom company, after attaining slightly more than 500,000 subscribers in just slightly over seven months of operations. The Rwandan government is targeting over 6 million subscribers by 2013 as the country strives to reach its goal of being a regional Information and Communication Technology (ICT) hub. Ends
