Gasogi United will be hoping to maintain their total dominance over Kiyovu Sports when the pair face off Friday, January 20 at Bugesera Stadium. Gasogi has been the bogey side of Kiyovu Sports as, since they were promoted to the topflight in the 2019, they have won five, drawn 2 and lost just once. Their first encounter was on October 31, 2019 which ended 1-1. The Orange and Green side thrashed Kiyovu 3-1 in a first round tie held at Kigali Stadium on November 27, 2022 and the week 16 encounter promises to be more exciting. Gasogi, now fourth on the table with 28 points, have been among the top performing clubs this season and a win on Friday would see them leapfrog Kiyovu and AS Kigali to move at the summit of the league table. Key Players to watch Christian Malipangou (Gasogi) The Central African Republic attacker has been in a rich vein of form scoring some crucial goals for Gasogi. A lot will depend on the forward if Gasogi are to get the needed results at the Bugesera Stadium. In Malipangou’s prime, the game could even be decided in the first half. Bienvenue Mugenzi (Kiyovu) He has been very consistent for Kiyovu since last season and he is one of the main reasons they are in second place, level on points with table leaders AS Kigali. Mugenzi has six goals to his name so far this season and the Gasogi defenders must be wary of the attacking threats that the forward may pose. In other games, ‘unpredictable’ Gorilla FC will host Police FC at the Bugesera Stadium in an early kickoff on Friday. Elsewhere, AS Kigali visit a regrouped Marine side which could give a big test to the league leaders ahead of Saturday’s crunch tie at Umuganda Stadium as they fight to avoid relegation. Bottom-placed Espoir will also be hoping for a bright start in Rusizi when they host newly-promoted Rwamagana City. Sunrise FC travel to Bugesera FC ahead of Sunday’s clash at the Bugesera Stadium kick at 12:30 pm while Rutsiro also welcome Etincelles at Umuganda Stadium. APR FC will also entertain Mukura Victory Sports at the Nyamata Stadium on Sunday at 3:30 pm. The game between Rayon Sports and Musanze has been postponed until further notice as the former’s new ground, Muhanga remains unavailable over the weekend.
