Defender Aimable Nsabimana has agreed to extend his stay at SC Kiyovu on a two-year deal that will keep him at the club until January, 2025. The Rwanda international in October signed a short term deal with the Green Baggies that would see him play for the club for the first round of Rwanda Premier League following a failed move to Jeddah SC in Saudi Arabia. He has since established himself as a key figure in the club’s defense and his impressive performance convinced the club management to tie him to a two-year contract extension. “We’re talking about a national team player so we’re lucky to be able to extend his contract because he had other offers but he decided to stay with us,” Juvenal Mvukiyehe, the new Kiyovu Sports Company Chairman, told Times Sports on Thursday. Mvukiyehe said the club has no plans to sign new players in the January transfer window. Instead, he said, they will renew contracts for some of their best players. “We have a complete squad that we believe can compete for titles this season. So I can assure you that we’re not going to sign new players in this window but we’re in negotiations with some players to extend their current contracts,” he said. Nsabimana, 25, previously played for Police FC as well as APR FC. He also had stints with Indian outfit Minerva Punjab in 2018. On the international scene, he made his debut for the Rwanda senior national team on July 15, 2017 against Tanzania in a CHAN qualifier. He has six caps with Amavubi so far.
