Aurore Kayibanda Mutesi, the winner of Miss Rwanda 2012, was recently engaged to another man after divorcing renowned photographer Egide Mbabazi in 2021. The news broke after pictures of a man, identified as Jacques Gatera, putting a ring on Kayibanda’s finger started making rounds, but not much has been said about the man who is set to tie the knot with one of the most famous beauty queens in Rwanda. The New Times learnt that the engagement ceremony took place this week at a golf course in the United States of America where Kayibanda relocated after being crowned Miss Rwanda. In 2021, Kayibanda used social media to announce that she broke up with Mbabazi and revealed plans of writing a book about her love life. Kayibanda and her ex-husband Mbabazi, who are both based in the United States, got engaged in March 2018 before sealing their marriage in the summer of the very year. They were considered as one of Rwanda’s top celebrity couples of the last decade. During her reign as Miss Rwanda, Kayibanda was also crowned Miss Fespam – a pan African beauty pageant – in Congo Brazzaville and represented the country at the 2013 Miss Supranational in Belarus. She was spotted in Kigali for the first time in six years last year at Camp Kigali during Kigali Jazz Junction concert.
