KIGALI A private business woman, Asumpta Umutoni, has sued one of the top computer service providers in the country- Rwanda Network Computers over $262,900 [approximately Fr144million debt. The Nyarugenge high instance court yesterday postponed hearing of the case in which the plaintiff represented by her lawyer Leopold Munderere, seeks to confiscate assets of Rwanda Network Computers over the debt said to have accumulated in 2005. Court set Monday January 21 for next hearing because the president of the court was not available. Lawyers for both sides were not in court. Umutoni’s lawyer Munderere, declined to comment on his client’s case, when contacted on phone, saying it was too early to do so. It is still too early to comment, he said, referring our reporter to court for more information on how the debt accumulated. However, Aime Bokanga, the lawyer representing the defendant told The New Times that his client had no debt with the plaintiff. There is evidence that my client paid Umutoni although we have to wait for the court verdict. We were supposed to meet today (Thursday) but the hearing has been adjourned to Monday, Bokanga said by phone. Meanwhile, the development bank (BANCOR) has also sued Rwanda Network Computers over Frw500 million in the same court; file number RCOM0849/07/TGI/Nyarugenge. Ends
