As Rwanda readies for Hippos tie Today Eritrea vs Tanzania Monday Rwanda vs Uganda This year’s Cecafa youth development tournament kicks off in Asmara today as hosts Eritrea take on Tanzania in Group A opener this evening. The other teams in this group include; Sudan, Somalia and Kenya. Rwanda’s Junior Wasps open their campaign against archrivals Uganda on Monday before playing Zanzibar on August 18 and Yemen two days later. Having lost their last two competitive matches last week against Ghanaian teams, the Junior Wasps will be hoping to a better outing against their Ugandan counterparts. Rwanda lost to Liberty U-20 side 2-4 after being given some footballing lessons from Ghana’s Black Starlet in a 5-1 humiliating loss. Rwanda’s team arrived in Asmara on Thursday night and they trained on Friday to get over with the jetlag. They are also expected to train on Sunday ahead of Mondays clash. The Eritrean government in collaboration with local partners and UN agencies in Asmara are sponsoring the tournament fully and will cover all the costs related to the competition. This covers full board accommodation to all delegations, air tickets, local transport and prize money of US$18,000 shared among the top three. The winner gets US$10,000 and the second and third placed pocket US$5,000 and US$3,000 US. Ends
