What I want to be in future

Even if children are young, they have their own ambitions in life. I talked to Daphine Abatoni of Remera academy school, 13 years of age and in her primary six vacation. She had this to say about what she wants to become after her studies. Daphine: After my studies, I want to be a pilot or a doctor. This is because I enjoyed the plane when coming back to Rwanda with my family from Uganda in 2001. With the second option of becoming a doctor not a nurse, it is because doctors are important to our lives. I would treat my family whenever they were sick as well as other Rwandan citizens. Question: Do you think there are female pilots? Daphine: I am not so sure if there are female pilots but I know my dream can come true. Question: How can you achieve this? Daphine: I need to work so hard and get good marks especially in the mathematics and the sciences. My brother told me that the best way to achieve this is by reading hard especially in those subjects. Question: Do you expect to pass maths and science? Daphine: Yes, I expect to pass above 70 percent. This is because the mocks were hard but I managed to get 68 percent. Therefore, I expect to get above 70 percent this time. Question: What if you do not become what you want? Daphine: I hope I will become a pilot or doctor because if I do not, I will be very disappointed and I will be very unhappy. Question: What is your advice to fellow children and their parents? Daphine: I advise all children to have their dreams in mind whenever reading books. My mother said that education is the key for a better future and the only gift parents can give us. But parents should also guides us to achieve our dreams in life. Ends
