Rwf78m housing project launched

RUBAVU - 121 needy families evicted from Rubavu hill are set to benefit from a housing project launched by a coalition of religious groups in the country. The housing project was launched by the Infrastructure Minister, Vincent Karega, who commended religious leaders for fostering unity and their initiative to help the vulnerable people. The Rwf78m project is projected to be completed in the next three months. The group behind the project includes the Evangelical Restoration Church, ADEPR, Anglican Church, Zion Temple, Church of God who together contributed Rwf50m, and Muslims who raised Rwf28m. The minister promised to ensure that the residents get access to clean water. “Water seems to be a problem here, but I promise that after one week all people here will have access to water,” Karega said. The head of the religious leaders, Rev Simon Masasu, of the Restoration Church, reiterated the need for working together to solve society’s problems. “We thank the district mayor [Hassan Bahame] who brought all of us together, and hope to do more to develop this district,” he said. The launch was preceded by prayers led by Rev. Masasu, and Sheikh Koudra Mutarugera of Rubavu. Rubavu district Mayor, Sheikh Hassan Bahame, thanked the religious leaders for partnering with the district to address community problems. Ends
