RWANDA’s football federation, Ferwafa has named the national U-20 squad that will participate in this year’s Cecafa Development Cup scheduled for August 14-28 in Asmara, Eritrea. Despite the tournament being for the Under 20s, Rwanda’s selectors have decided to go with the juniors of the Under 17 from the Ferwafa, APR and Kicukiro academies. According to the federation officials, the championship in Asmara is being used to prepare the U-17 side ahead of next year’s Africa Youth Championship, which will be held in Kigali from January 7-22. But before reaching Eritrea, the junior side will engage in two friendly matches in Ghana where they will play against Ghana’s U-17 and Liberty Professionals FC before heading to Eritrea on August 12. The team will be coached by Frenchman Richard Tardy despite the fact that he has actually signed his contract. He will be assisted by Aloys Kanamugire and Vincent Mashami.
