The Rwandan derby between arch-rivals APR FC and Rayon Sports has been scheduled for February 12 as per the rescheduled fixture calendar for the return leg of the 2022/23 Premier League season. According to the calendar unveiled on Thursday, January 12, the league resumes on January 20 and will conclude on May 21. Rayon, who have not beaten APR FC since 2018, will be looking to end their winless streak against the army side which has dominated the derby over the past four seasons. The last time the two teams met was in December 2022 when the military side shocked the Blues 1-0 at Kigali Stadium through a second half goal from Yannick Bizimana.. Other key fixtures include a clash between Kiyovu SC and APR scheduled on January 28. Kiyovu will also go head to head with rivals Rayon Sports on February 5 while leaders AS Kigali will host Police FC on February 4. “For the teams that normally host their matches at Kigali Stadium will use it again when the competent authority has given the green light to use it again” the FERWAFA letter addressed on Thursday. From the day 25 of the league, the league title competing teams and the low league table teams will start playing their matches at the same time. AS Kigali lead the table with 30 points and are separated with Kiyovu at the top on goal difference. The pair return to league action with a two-point gap ahead of third-placed APR who are level on points with Gasogi and Rayon who complete the top five with 28 points each.
