Editor, I was tickled pink to read that the Directorate General of Immigration and Emigration had issued an ultimatum to 50 international NGOs to legalise their operations in the country or face the long arm of the law. I have to say that I have always felt very suspicious about some of NGO’s which come to “save the Africans”. I’ve always found many of these NGO’s condescending in their attitudes and honestly, I find them useless. Many of them are simply briefcase organisations and their impact is barely felt. I’m of the view that, unless they are doing something to really improve the lives of the people, they should be kicked out. In fact, the Directorate General of Immigration and Emigration has waited too long methinks. Brenda Umutoni Huye
