Natasha’s Chronicles : Home Sweet Home!

Finally we get home! It’s been three months for most of us students, and goodness! It seems like an eternity since we left for school some of us feel like tourists in the city, everything seems so new; trees taller, people fatter, almost everyone is married, in my home, our cat is pregnant for the second time, our president is all smiles (oh, how we love that smile), TIGO and MTN seem to be vigorously and tirelessly competing for some hidden World Cup even after Spain took it. What isn’t happening? Everything is more interesting if not less! Welcome back home!! What matters most is that “East or West, home is best!” Any student will tell you that not being a part of these interesting things that take place while we were at school, makes us feel blank when we get there. I tell you, right now, this is the time where students become similar to journalists, as they ask every question they could possibly generate in their minds about what they missed. I fear for those who read Ninsiima Innocent’s Q&As in the Teens Times, might forget and ask “what message would you give your fans out there?” If you happen to come across a student especially one from boarding school, I don’t expect you to continue the habit of asking “so what’s new with you?” I mean, who doesn’t know that at school, we follow a time table and school routine every day, do many tests, go for assemblies, attend class, etc?? Nothing of that is new! So, in this case, don’t you see that you’re the one expected to tell us what’s new? I hope so because, at the beginning of the next term, it’s a competition to say whatever news we saw or heard even if it means inventing one! (By the way, I beg you to please save us the burden of bearing the boredom from those invented stories and tell us something we can take back to school. Thank you in advance) Otherwise, we dearly missed home and everything to do with it; I really missed having as much bread for breakfast as my stomach can carry and of course as much milk!! My friends and fellow students sincerely missed the T.V, DVD player and phone! And we’re more than glad to be back! Now is when the drama starts… airtime sellers begin to smile, dressing up like a bride or groom to the next door neighbours, sitting at restaurants for three hours and ordering only a fanta, etc. Fellow students, maybe you haven’t heard, but I was told the city is boring without us!Use the holidays to the maximum, enjoy yourself, and sleep all you can, learn more than what you know, make more friends, but whatever you do, do it wisely!
