Eight corporate companies have come on board to sponsor the four-team football tournament dubbed ‘United We Stand’ scheduled for August 2-8 at Amahoro stadium. The tournament organizer, the Sports and Culture Minister Joseph Habineza confirmed the development to Times Sport recently naming the companies as Sorwathe, CSR, Kobil, Bralirwa, BRD, Cogea Bank, BCR and EcoBank. “So far we have at least eight companies that have promised to offer their support towards the successful organization of this tournament. “We expect more companies to come on board before the tournament starts,” said Minister Habineza. The tournament will attract the country’s top four teams from last season namely; APR, Rayon Sports, Etincelles and Kiyovu. The tournament is to highlight Kagame’s commitment to promoting sports in the country during his first tenure as a democratically elected President. According to Habineza, Kagame, who is seeking a second term of the highest office in the land, has supported different sports programs including football, basketball, volleyball and cycling teams as well as supporting numerous initiatives to advance the development of Rwanda’s young athletes. In order to engage fans and encourage them to participate, the ministry of Sports and Culture will be hosting a meet and greet with the players at the stadium the morning before the first match. Fans will have the opportunity to meet their favorite players and receive club photographs of their favorite clubs posed with President Kagame. The fans will have the opportunity to have the players autograph the photo during the morning session. Ends
