Last week I went to some bank to seek some services when I was met by a customer care lady who was almost half naked. This beautiful young lady was wearing a see through blouse plus a very short and tight skirt. Her jewellery and makeup was too loud for office. I found a group of people waiting to be attended to, but later realised our male friends were taking longer than usual, just so that they can have their field day looking at this woman’s body. When my turn came to be served, I gave her a piece of advice like the way a mother should to a daughter. She told me that she had no plans of changing her wardrobe since she dresses like that to please herself and not any other person; but then I told her what other people think of her and the reputation she is costing her employer, with that I took off to see her immediate supervisor so that she too can advise her on what to dress when coming to work or anywhere else for that matter. Clothing can tell quite a lot about the person, sometimes more than we would like to reveal. Those who dress without thinking much about it and therefore believe that they do not send any messages by what they wear are not safe, either. Their clothes will still speak, albeit silently. Lean, neat clothes say that the person has both self-respect and respect for other people; they are well organized and disciplined. Even the simplest, casual clothes can convey this impression while expensive yet wrinkled outfit will betray your sloppy side. Your dress sense either attracts respect or attracts huge disrespect, learn to appear as appropriate as possible, little body exposure arouses only a polite and gentlemanly gaze or look, what you wear speaks before you do, so it is better to make it shout confidence, respect, self dignity and power. The world has tried hard to shape the woman into a model, sex object, social symbol and so on, but it all depends on you as an individual, to change the way you approach life. A woman must always learn to always be herself, especially in public, who says you must wear that feet breaking high heel shoes when you feel comfortable in the flat ones, who says that skirt must reveal so much, when you prefer to wear a smarter and better skirt? All these come down to an individual’s way of thinking and how she wants people to think of her. Two other big tellers are colour and style. They reflect your character, priorities, and social standing (to some extent). Classic style shows a more serious and traditionally-inclined personality while bright, extravagant outfits speak of being non-conventional, perhaps artistic. Many actors and musicians are known for unusual, flashy clothes meant to draw attention and show their exclusiveness, their being different from the rest. Black trousers, light-coloured shirt or blouse, and brown shoes will relay that their wearer either; cannot afford to buy black shoes at the moment; does not know that black doesn’t go with brown or does not care. Further observation will usually reveal which one of the three is correct. Someone dressed according to the latest fashion although this particular style is not very flattering to their figure reveals lack of individuality and / or personal taste. On the contrary, someone who wears an impeccable outfit that perfectly suits them and yet is not the latest trend demonstrates being able to rise above the crowd. You can actually make a statement by what you wear, especially if you break social standards by dressing differently than what is usually expected for a certain occasion for as long as your dressing is decent.
