Rwanda’s top athlete Disi Dieudonne will be lining up for the Puerto Rico half marathon scheduled for next month as he looks to make 2008 a replica of last year. The local ace says that this marathon scheduled for February 3 is one of three events lined up for him next month. “Besides the Puerto Rico race, I also intend to compete in the Dubai half marathon and the ‘best 10km race back in Puerto Rico,” he noted. Disi also disclosed that he turned down an invitation to compete in USA’s Houston half marathon that takes route this Sunday. “I had to let go of the Houston half marathon because I was not in perfect shape. I resumed full track training early this week so I felt three-four days was not enough for me to get my rhythm back. However, I have started training and will be ready for Puerto Rico,” Disi said. “I’m looking forward to this race. I had a fantastic run last year and the onus is on me to keep it up. “I have set my departure date as January 28 and hope that I will have my travel documents ready by then” “Right now, I’m doing all that I can to get my visa ready,” he noted.2007 was undeniably Disi’s most exciting year in his profession. The 27-year-old registered podium performances in five international events namely; 16km in Paris, Remisi half Marathon in France, New Delhi half marathon in India, Lagos half marathon in Nigeria and Abidjan half marathon in Ivory Coast. He also finished 6th in the world half marathon that was staged in Udine, Italy last November. Ends
