Jean Pierre Raoul Shungu has rejoined Rayon Sports as head coach on a one-year deal, the club has confirmed. The blues’ first vice president Saidi Habiyambere told Times Sport yesterday that Shungu put pen to paper last Sunday. “He is the club’s new head coach and will be assisted by Thierry Hitimana,” Habiyambere said. Despite luring Shungu over to Rayon, Habiyambere failed to clarify on the terms of the contract. He said, “I can’t tell you anything on the terms we have agreed. It is up to him to let you know.” Shungu can’t wait to revive Rayon’s past glory after being relieved of his coaching duties with the Seychelles national football team ‘Pirates’ recently.During his spell with the club between 1998 and 2004, the 48-year-old guided Rayon to 7 trophies including the 1999 Cecafa Club Championship trophy; the first Cecafa title by a local club. But later fell out with the club management over its management policy and meager pay shortly after guiding Rayon to the 2004 national league title. Since his exit at Rayon, the club only boasts of one trophy; the 2005 Amahoro Cup.Shungu continues to be Rayon’s most celebrated coach. Ends
