PRIMUS National League side Mukura FC kicks off their Genocide Memorial tournament title defence against Muhanga this afternoon in Huye, Southern Province. While Mukura take on newly promoted Muhanga, National University of Rwanda (NUR) will face Amagaju at the same venue. The winners of today’s matches will face off in the final tomorrow (Sunday). Mukura spokesman Wellace Mungengana said yesterday that only four clubs will take part in this year’s edition and slammed the local football federation, Ferwafa for the low turn up of clubs. “The tournament will attract only four clubs Amagaju, UNR, Muhanga and hosts Mukura. We had planned to organize a bigger event but because of lack of support from the football federation, it has not been possible,” Mungengana said. However, Mungengana noted that with or without the federation’s support they will keep on honouring the country’s fallen footballers. Mukura has been holding this tournament for the last 15 years but under poor conditions attributed to financial constraints. Ends
