Editor, I was horrified to read in yesterdays edition of The New Times about a 25 year old man in Musanze who allegedly defiled a 13 year old girl, after handcuffing her. I will not call him innocent or guilty, I will leave that to the courts, however I find the whole thing sickening. How is it possible that a grown man can try to destroy a young life like that? It makes me shudder to think that we live in a society where people like that are among us. As someone who has young siblings, I worry for them. I’m of the view that men, and women, who are caught in such acts, should face the full force of the law and get maximum sentences without an option of parole. Examples must be made of them.
