President attends USA technology tradeshow

President Paul Kagame is scheduled to speak at the 2008 International CES, the world’s largest consumer technology trade show next week. The three day event is to take place in Las Vegas, United States from 7th h to 10th this month. At the invitation of the Consumer Electronics Association, which produces the annual International CES event, President Kagame will also participate at the new Industry Insider Series program focused on the role of technology in developing countries, specifically addressing Building a Better Tomorrow with Technology. The Technology and Emerging Countries program consists of keynote addresses, panel sessions and demonstrations of the technologies used by developing nations. It will delve into the role consumer technology plays in long-term development of emerging markets and providing a global marketplace where governments and technologists from around the globe can come together to learn and experience the technologies that are changing the shape of our world. Speakers for Technology and Emerging Countries program include Nicolas Negroponte, founder of the One Laptop Per Child project and the MIT Media Lab, who is slated to deliver the program’s closing keynote address. Others are Paul Meyer, CEO, Voxiva; Bruce Sewell, senior vice president and general counsel, Intel Corporation; Dan Shine, program director, AMD’s 50x15 Initiative and Tae Yoo, senior vice president, corporate affairs and Cisco Systems Inc. While in the US, President Kagame is also scheduled to meet with business leaders in Seattle – Washington, as part of the government’s on going efforts to attract international investment to Rwanda.
