Bafana’s loss adds up to KQ frustration

MY trip to a once in a life time global event which is being staged in South Africa this year got off to a dreadful start. After seeing my favorite Bafana Bafana handed a 3-0 defeat by a ruthless Uruguay side to further dampen the hosts’ chances of progressing to the next round, a would-be three-hour flight from Kigali to Johannesburg ended up being six hours on a Kenya Airways flight. But I will put all the blame on MTN Rwanda who made the flight booking that saw us spend hours in transit. From Kigali, we had a stop over in Nairobi were our flight of 20hrs was delayed to 21.30. Until this day, I’m yet to know the reason behind the delay. Anyway, after lots of patience, we were on the plane and landed in Johannesburg at 1.15am. Chilly weather conditions are what welcomed me in Johannesburg. It was a 30-minute drive from the airport to my hotel. Once I was set, I watched a rebroadcast of the South Africa-Uruguay game and seemed to concur with the referee for the red card to the South African keeper because I think there was contact. Day two (Thursday) was a bit better despite temperatures freezing to -5 degrees. I had a good experience at Askari game reserve which is a three-hour drive outside Johannesburg before retiring at noon to watch the Argentineans taking on South Korea. All in all, I think South Africa is going to become the first World Cup host not to reach the second round of the event. Ke Nako
