Kigalians ushered in the New Year in style. By and large, it was a mesmerizing night full of life, parties and brightly coloured streams of fireworks streaking across the skies. Revellers flocked to different places cleared by the police to display fireworks. Many religious centres and entertainment joints were packed to the brim as Kigalians ushered in the new year in style. A wild excitement could be heard from afar as the fireworks coloured the skies. To mark the New Year, people posted videos of themselves dancing, singing, hugging, and kissing loved ones on social media. Others flocked to various places to attend events and themed nights organized to mark the evening across the city’s different bars and food spots. Different music shows were taking place at the same time in various venues, including ROC NYE at the Kigali Conference and Exhibition Village (KCEV), also known as Camp Kigali, with AV (Nigeria) as the guest artist. Kigalians were treated to a variety of music blends performed by DJs from various countries, including DJ Glenn (France) and DJ Spunj (Zimbabwe). In other parts of the city, some preferred to ditch parties for prayers. Others stayed at home to feast with their families. As usual, Roman Catholic churches held New Year's Eve mass celebrations. Other religions also held prayers and concerts to allow believers to begin the new year seeking God's blessings and guidance. Nightclubs and bars were packed, with merry making that continued until the morning.
