Afro Monsters Vipers from Kimisagara beat five other dance crews at the Urutozi Dance Competition on December 30 at Club Rafiki.Organised by Urutozi Gakondo, an eco-friendly Rwandan fashion company, the contest is part of the fashion house’s move to not only support dance among local choreography talents but also promote the best of its Made in Rwanda fashion products designed by its own inventors.The budding dancers at the finale included; The weapons from Gisenyi, African Mirror from Kimisagara, Afro Mirror from Nyamata, Urban Dance School from Rafiki Club, Afro Monsters Vipers from Kimisagara, and Tremblement De Terre from DRC.All dancers had to impress a panel of judges that had veteran dancers Jack B, Tizzo and Olvis (both from Active), and Joxy.The overall winner walked away with Rwf500, 000 while Urban Dance School, the first runner-up, was rewarded Rwf300, 000, and the second runner-up, Afro Mirror, went home with Rwf200, 000. The winners will also officially become the brand ambassadors of Urutozi Gakondo fashion house. With a free-of-charge entrance, the grand finale was headlined by rapper Bushali while DJ Toxxyk entertained revellers with selections from his deck.Urutozi’s evolution in the local fashion industry has been on the rise since its inception in 2020 as its collections continue to attract the attention of fashion enthusiasts in Kigali.
