It was a great comeback for the hosts who are making their debut in the Zone 5 junior female championship. Rwanda who had the backing of the home crowd at Kimisagara courts wasted no time as they took a 14-0 half time lead. Burundi crawled back into the game after the break but Irene Uwineza’s seven goals made sure that Rwanda had their first win in the bag. The win moved Rwanda to four points and team coach Ezekiel Muhirwa Nkusi now believes the team is better placed to wrestle Kenya which still enjoys a 100 per cent record in the competition after trouncing Burundi 29-19 on Monday. “We needed a win so badly and it’s good that we got it. The confidence in the side is high and that is what you need when playing against top sides like Kenya,” he noted. The other day’s game pits Burundi and Tanzania. The tournament is organised under the auspices of the Confederation of Africa Handball (CAHB). Ends
