KCB earmarks Rwf40m for the community

For the second year in a row, Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB), has injected Rwf40 million in a foundation as a way of giving back to the society. Through the KCB foundation which is operated at a group level, the bank has again this year raised the money out of their profits. KCB’s Head of Business, Gloria Nyambok, said that through the bank’s foundation every year the bank keeps a certain amount of money out of the profits, then it gives back to the community. Nyambok was speaking after handing over 2 Computers, 2 printers and Sports equipments to Kawangire primary school in Eastern Province. “We decided to be helping in five different areas which include; Education, Health, Welfare, Environment and Entrepreneurship- and for the case of this primary school; it’s our second time helping them,” she said. “This is what the school had requested from the management of the bank to help them acquire PCs and printers to help them in their day to day work and also sportswear for their valley and football team,” Nyambok added. The foundation was set up in 2007 to facilitate corporate social responsibility initiatives for the KCB Group. The foundation supports community programmes in the markets where the bank operates in Kenya, Uganda, Southern Sudan, Tanzania and Rwanda. Nyambok said that this support is driven by a strong belief that thriving communities businesses, underpinned by focus on economic, social and environmental sustainability. Ends
