The Rwanda Golf Union has landed an invitation to take part in this year’s Open Golf Championship to be staged at the Arusha Gymkhana Club, Tanzania. The August 25-26 event is an amateur golfers’ tourney that has stroke play as the mode of play. Speaking to Kigali Golf Club vice captain Marcel Byusa, he says that the club received the invitational last week and is yet to decide Rwanda’s involvement. “This event was not in our calendar but we are meeting to decide if we shall participate,” Byusa recently said. According to reports in the East African Standard paper, a Kenya based daily, the hosts (Arusha Gymkhana club) expect over 50 golfers from five countries; Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda and Burundi.Ends
