Kaberuka re-elected Dr.Donald Kaberuka has been re-elected as the President of the Africa Development Bank (ADB), giving him five more years at the helm of the Continent’s bank, addressing a press briefing shortly after his re-election, Kaberuka said he would focus on accelerating economic integration of the continent ,which is still largely viewed through the prism of natural resources. Traders urged to tap into the EAC market The Minister of the East African Community Affairs, Monique Mukaruliza, urged residents especially business persons, to take advantage of the wider market provided by the East African economic bloc. Mukaruliza warned that the country will not benefit much if business persons continue to work as individuals. Genocide fugitive arrested in France The Government of Rwanda has commended the French police for arresting top Genocide fugitive, Eugene Rwamucyo. Reacting to the arrest, the Prosecutor General Martin Ngoga noted that the arrest was timely as it occurred a few days after Rwamucyo participated in a conference organized by some defence lawyers at the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR) and several jurists mainly based in Europe. TIG activities valued at Rwf 25bn Five years since its inception, the works for general interests known as TIG has produced positive out-put valued at 25.1 billion, The President of the Political Affairs commission, of parliament Senator Joseph Karemera told members of senate on Thursday that TIG productivity had made Rwf 18 billion in direct profits. Rwf 7 billion had been invested in the project. Erlinder arrested for Genocide denial On Friday Police arrested Peter Erlinder, the controversial American Lawyer on charges of denying the Genocide.Erlinder, arrived in the country to defend Victoire Ingabire, the embattled leader of the yet to be registered political party FDU-Inkingi. Speaking to The New Times, Prosecutor General Martin Ngoga said that the lawyer’s arrest had nothing to do with his plan to represent Ingabire. Refuges get ID’s The government this Friday officially began issuing Identity Cards to refugees, an exercise that will see over 20,000 refugees from several countries given identification documents, addressing the beneficiaries and officials from UNHCR Innocent Ngango, the Executive Secretary of the National council for Refugee (NCR) in the Ministry of Disaster Preparedness and Refugee affairs, elaborated on the importance of issuing the cards. “Refugees living in Rwanda are also entitled to identification just like other citizens and this is why we decided to give them cards” said Ngango Ends
