GISAGARA – Residents of Kigembe Sector will soon be able to access health services near them once a proposed health centre in the area is completed, a sector official has revealed. The health centre which is expected to serve over 20,000 residents, will be built by the district with funding from the Community Development Fund that operates from the Ministry of Local Government. Jean Damascène Renzaho, the Executive Secretary of the sector, revealed this while reacting to complaints from residents over the lack of health facilities within the Sector. Residents say they have to trek long distances to access health services in Kansi and Nyanza sectors. “The long distance is hard to endure especially when one is sick, many sick people are carried on traditional stretcher to hospital which is tiresome because of the distance involved,” said Aloysie Mukarwego a resident of Kigarama village. “The health centre project is our top priority, it has been included in the district’s next development budget,” Renzaho said.
