'Imbuto' Foundation timely incentive for women entrepreneurship

On Wednesday, the Office of the First Lady launched an organisation to help encourage innovation and hard work among Rwandan women, and reward young women who have shown exceptional resilience to develop themselves and others.And on the same day, the organisation – Imbuto Foundation – awarded seven young outstanding Rwandan women aged between 18 and 35 years. They were found to be highly exemplary in their respective careers, exhibiting brilliant skills, buoyancy and determination to make a difference either in their own or other people’s lives.Speaking during the award event, the First Lady Mrs Jeannette Kagame, observed that Imbuto Foundation was initiated as a result of the need to transform PACFA (a humanitarian project under her office) – into entailing initiatives for economic empowerment activities. And as she put it, the initiative to celebrate young Rwandan women achievers – both in Rwanda and beyond – truly symbolizes growth, achievement, nurturing and support.This organisation will not only encourage innovation and entrepreneurship among Rwandan women in general, but will also promote sharing and mentorship between those that have already succeeded in certain fields and the young generation. And the fact that the launch of Imbuto Foundation was attended by at least 250 girls is a manifestation that the brains behind the project are focused at inspiring young Rwandan women to learn from their elders. What needs to be done now is to establish strong partnerships between the recognized achievers and other distinguished Rwandan women, both in the country and in the Diaspora, to support and give guidance to rural and disadvantaged women, as well as Rwandan girls. Economic independence boosts one’s self-esteem and respect, and that is why Imbuto Foundation should play an important role in uplifting a rural woman economically. Such noble initiatives will undoubtedly help women to realise their full potential and promote excellence in our country. Ends
