Editor, I wholeheartedly agree with what the Minister of Agriculture and Animal Resources, Dr. Agnes Kalibata, said during the opening of the 6th African Dairy Conference and Exhibition in Kigali. She urged Rwandan dairy farmers to explore the opportunities that the sector offers as a way of not only improving their lives but also contributing to national development. While the opportunities are plentiful, I think that this sector will not improve unless the dairy farmers think about improving their methods of animal husbandry. They will need to improve their animal feed, and switch from the local cattle breed to better yielding varieties. This will cost money, however, with funding, I can see the dairy industry in this country moving from strength to strength. Keila MbabaziRemera
