With proceedings poised at 1-all after two sets, Rwanda’s star player Eric Nsabimana came out blazing to spur the side to back to back set wins thereby sealing a well deserved 3-1 away victory. For UNR coach Fidele Nyirimana, the win keeps the team in the race for this year’s title. “We knew it would not be easy to break them down but we came through with a commendable performance,” the former national team libero said. UNR, who moved onto 22 points after the win, are now two points adrift of APR, who kept their unbeaten run intact after thumping St. Joseph Kabgayi 3-0. UNATEK are third on 18 points but KVC, who enjoyed successive wins over KIE and GSOB over the weekend can close in on the former if they win their game in hand. KVC have 15 points while College of Gisenyi rounds off the top five with 14 points. Ten teams are in contention this year. Ends
