Colourful Christmas and New Year decoration lights have taken over Kigali streets, roundabouts and other public spaces as the city prepares for end-of-year and New Year’s celebrations. Decoration lights are also illuminating some of the city’s high rise buildings, entertainment spots, office spaces, bars and other business facilities as the country heads for a long Christmas weekend, which will include Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day. From the main roundabouts and main public squares in the Central Business District, to boulevards and other key avenues to Sonatubes and Kisimenti roundabouts, a dazzling array of colour has added to the city’s nighttime beauty. The decorations have perfectly complemented the thriving flowers and other beautiful plants dominating the city streets, adding to the holiday fever – even in a year marked by economic hardship thanks to high inflation linked to the war in Ukraine. The New Times’ Craish Bahizi was on Thursday night out and about capturing the dazzling views of the capital.
