Would you Marry for Money, Love or Beauty?

These are the views of some Rwandan’s when asked on whether they would marry an unattractive rich person, or a good-looking poor person. “I would marry an unattractive rich woman. Money is not bad, and the fact that she is unattractive would save me from competing with other men for her.” Jimmy Rudahunga is a painter, Salsa teacher and singer. “If the unattractive-rich man had a great personality—I would marry him. And if the good-looking poor man had a boring personality—I wouldn’t handle.” Ninette Dusabe is a model. “Why for Christ’s sake would I marry a lady, whose background and character I didn’t know. Money and looks are immaterial as far as I’m concerned.” Christian Rwirangira is a Rwandan artist who contested for the 2009 Tusker Project Fame season three (TPF3). “Positively, I would go for a good-looking man, even if he was as poor as a church mouse. An unattractive man will age and progressively become more unattractive. I wouldn’t feel comfortable moving out, or spending time with him, even if he gives me the security of all his possessions.” Miss JoJo is a local musician. “I would marry the one who is poor but handsome!” Happiness Kabatesi is a Rwandan contesting for Mr. / Miss East Africa UK. “Ugly women are not my type! I love beautiful babes, and I wouldn’t mind marrying one even she if owned nothing.” Yvan Ngenzi is a model and works with Premier Model Agency. “I love who I love, and that’s who I would marry. I wouldn’t marry a man for his looks, or what he possesses, but because of his good personality.” Phanny Wibabara is a gospel singer. “Of course I would marry the one who is beautiful. In my opinion, money isn’t the major priority, but looks. I would rather marry someone gorgeous, than marrying a stinking rich ugly woman, whom I wouldn’t wish to present to my friends and family as my wife.” Tumaine Kalisa is a Technician. “Concerning whom to marry or not would depend on whether I’m attracted to them. But to be specific, I wouldn’t choose an ugly lady for marriage, even if she was very rich.” Will Ndahiro Local Film star, famous in the movie series “Ikigeragezo cy’ubuzima”. “I can’t marry someone that I’ll not be happy with. I can only marry her because we are fond of each and ready to start a family.
