Anger Victims Living With Bitterness

The pain they go through is unbearable and the bitterness shielded within is witnessed in their eyes. To attain any information from a victim of anger is really hard, most times they live in denial thus avoiding to reveal what happened. I met someone who was victimised as result of anger but refused to open up although the person is leading a totally miserable life. Victims of anger are also more likely to suffer episodic or chronic depression, post traumatic stress syndrome, and other mental health disorders. The Rwandan National Police established a “Gender Based Violence Desk” in police stations for quick response and prevention of Gender Based Violence (GBV) and violence against children. GBV is as a result of anger, statistically in Rwanda a total of 2357 cases where reported in 2009, and in regard to GBV,1570 cases of defilement, 297 cases of rape and 490 cases of physical torture. The number of women victims was more than that of the men. Violence against women presents a major public problem but it has been ignored in society’s norms and cultural beliefs although the situation varies in different countries. Ending violence does not require increasing prosecutions of perpetrators but also working hard to make a proper life for the victims. The Ministry of Gender and Family Promotion is working with activists, advocates, and society to ensure that laws that recognize women’s equality and right to be free from violence are fully implemented. The Ministry Advisor, Emmanuel Nzaramba said that, “Gender Based Violence is very hard to discover since the women and children tend to cover up for the men because they are scared, they only report when the situation has gone out of hand hence an iceberg to the campaigns against the act.” “We have a very long way to go in order to totally eliminate such vices in society.
