AIESEC trains youth on leadership

The School of Financing and Banking over the weekend held a leadership development seminar (AIESEC) that attracted hundreds of students from various universities in Rwanda where they were tutored by leadership experts on how to develop their potential as the future leaders of the country. “In AIESEC, we provide exchange internship programmes to talented youths so that they can go and work in other countries in order to attain international standards in their leadership experience,” Joseph Sany, a consultant working with AIESEC said in an interview. Sany added that AIESEC Rwanda has been running several projects to empower its members with various skills such as project management, entrepreneurial, career-based development and other relevant skills. The President-elect of AIESEC Rwanda, Patrick Kamulindwa, commended the role of the government and RDB as their sponsor in providing the youth with opportunities where they can develop themselves so as to develop the country. “In collaboration with AIESEC India, AIESEC Rwanda has secured an exchange partnership with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) to send up to 35 Information Technology students for an internship, after which the students will come back to Rwanda and apply what has been acquired,” Kamulindwa said. Belinda Kakazi, a student from the National University of Rwanda had her internship in Uganda facilitated by AIESEC. “During my internship in Uganda, I was able to learn how to work in a different environment and how to lead others in teams or groups of organizations to push towards achieving a common goal. I seek to use my experience to help in the development process of my country,” she said. Ends
