STUDENTS of the School of Finance and Banking (SFB) have donated a 22-goat project to Genocide survivors and widows in Nyamata. This is aimed at improving the lives of the survivors. This is a gesture worth emulating by many other Rwandans to extend a kind hand to the less fortunate. Despite having in place national programmes aimed at improving the living conditions of the survivors, people should also pitch in. It ought to be noted that the survivors are faced with many challenges in their daily lives. Moreover the effects of the genocide are still with them and it will take more than material comforts to surmount their plight. However, it also ought to be held in mind that not all who claim to support survivors are well intentioned. We have had cases of dubious organizations soliciting for funds ostensibly to help Genocide survivors but lining their own pockets. It is therefore vital that, whereas we have many well-intentioned people who seek to assist the survivors, those who opportunistically seek their own ends must be exposed. The act of the students at SFB is an awakening and a source of inspiration for other students and young people could borrow. Ends
