Editor, In its long and short term development programs, the country has a goal of developing a knowledge based economy whereby people will be equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to do their work better. With the right mind set and preparation, ICT can be employed to change people’s social-economic livelihoods through business skills promotion, entrepreneurship, communication and research. In Rwanda, there are many ways through which ICT can be incorporated in people’s lives for a positive change. Sensitizing people especially in the informal sector on the benefits of ICT and how it can be used to improve their businesses and other economic activities is essential. It is therefore important to embrace projects like Digital Opportunity Trust which is rolling out its activities in Rwanda with a target of empowering disadvantaged people to use ICT tools in improving their businesses.
