Central Africa Vision helps Aids patients

EASTERN PROVINCE RWAMAGANA — Central Africa Vision (CAV), a non governmental organisation, last week donated Frw 2 million to HIV/Aids patients in Gahangeri and Musha sectors for small income generating projects. Jean Bukurumutima, the Director of CAV, told The New Times after the donation that their organisation has advised the beneficiaries to work in cooperatives.“We gave Frw 20,000 to each member of the association of people living with the virus but we advised them to work as a group. Here, in Musha we have advised them to start up a market for raw foods,” Bukurumutima said at the sector headquarters.He said that after six month of business the beneficiaries would repay the money with no interest so that other HIV/Aids patients can also be facilitated. He explained that after repayment in six months the beneficiaries would get more Frw50, 000 to boost their businesses. With a smile on her face one of the beneficiaries Diane Uwamahoro, told The New Times that it was her first time to get Frw20, 000. She promised she would make good use of it by doing business in a nearby market for quick profits. In an interview with Jean Claude Cyuma, the sector Executive Secretary, he commended the donors for aiding Aids patients saying they [donors] had returned hope to a good number of them. He said that with such donation they would start small scale businesses to supplement on their daily incomes. He also noted that there were other Aids patients waiting eagerly for such an opportunity to come their way. Ends
