Adventist University gets new students committee

The 11-member students’ association committee of the Adventist University of Central Africa, Mudende was yesterday sworn into office at a ceremony held at Masoro campus in Gasabo district. Jean de Dieu Munezero was sworn as the new president of the students’ association replacing Emmanuel Ndayishimiye. Wellars Kayitare and Albertine Uwingabire took oath as vice presidents while Innocent Mpirwa and Marc Nshimiyimana are the new general secretary and treasurer respectively. The swearing in ceremony was presided over by Serge Nzabonimana, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Youth who said that the students’ leadership defines one’s future. “It all starts here,” Nzabonimana said, urging them to be part of the country’s development both socially and economically. New president Munezero pledged to accomplish the committee’s set goals and those left pending by their predecessors. “Our goals will not only focus on the university but also other government development programmes,” Munezero said. He called for a joint partnership with both the students and university administration for the new committee to ably accomplish its targets. The university rector, Albert Ngabo Sebahashyi urged the incoming committee to stick to its duties to develop the university and the country in general. “Don’t take being a leader to mean being at loggerheads with the administration…you should instead support the administration in accomplishing its duties,” Sebahashyi said. “To be a leader means accepting hardships, being trustworthy and to have self esteem of serving others to the best.” Ends
