SOUTHERN PROVINCE RUHANGO — A group of nine health supervisors from the district has been set up with skills to monitor and evaluate the progress of health mechanisms in Ruhango.This was revealed by Emile Sempabwa, an official of Intra-Health/ Twubakane after four-day training on the team’s scope of work last week.The training and establishment of the supervision team was sponsored by Intra-Health. “The team is responsible for improving health services in order to achieve the goals set in the district performance contracts. This is also one way of having community ownership and self sustainability of health services afterwards,” Sempabwa said.He added that: “The team will also liaise with local health committees (PAQ), 13 health centers and the District leadership in resolving health problems, evaluating health indicators and drawing the future health plans.”Dean Swerdlin, the Decentralization and Health Facility team leader also commended PAQ committees for extending health services to residents and said that Intra-Health would provide more support in the decentralization process. Participants of the newly established health team included health personnel and district leaders. They expressed readiness to utilize the funds and capacity support provided by Intra-Health/Twubakane. Ends
