CHUB marks Patient’s Day

HUYE – Staff at the University Teaching Hospital of Butare (CHUB) have been called upon to provide quality services to patients and to observe the medical code of ethics if they are to succeed in their work. The call was made last Sunday by Dr Jean Bosco Gahutu, the director of the National University of Rwanda’s laboratory, during celebrations to mark Patient’s Day at the hospital. Dr Gahutu said that taking good care of patients should be a duty of all people in the medical field. He added that showing love and care to patients accelerates the healing process. “Medicine accompanied by love and care helps patients heal faster, medical personnel should be in position to know this so as to treat patients in a better way,” he said. Patients who talked to The New Times welcomed the celebration of their day, saying that it lessens the pain and loneliness that comes with spending time on a hospital bed. Meanwhile, the hospital received an assortment of drugs from the Rwanda Drug, Consumables and Equipment Central Procurement Agency (CAMERWA), worth Rwf15 million on the same day. Patients were also entertained by local artist; Tom Close and the district cultural troupe. Ends
