Breaking up without breaking down

People fall in and out of love. This will happen for as long as humans exists. A problem only comes in if a separation causes hate or even blood shed. Last Sunday, I watched a movie where a mature couple decided to part ways a process obviously had to go through court. In the movie, the court needs time and the woman, who had filed for divorce has to wait. After two years of waiting, the woman asks her ex- husband out for dinner, the night before the court ruling. They quickly forget their problems over a series of wine bottles. The two spend a romantic night together but again have to wake up early and prepare for their last divorce hearing. In court, her husband hopes the woman likes will end the case. He is still riding on the previous night’s heaven, but is he ready for ‘phase two’? Drama fills the courtroom when the two exchange pecks and then a moment of blissful and passionate kissing—to the surprise of the magistrate. The judge is confused and asks if the couple is sure about the divorce. But the husband is blown to disappointment as the woman answers aloud, “Yes of course!” This largely comical court session ends with the woman smiling while the poor ex-husband is left wishing to for another bottle of wine.
