KARONGI – Barcelona football club Foundation president Joan Laporta (pic) is willing and ready to dedicate this season’s UEFA Champion League success to vulnerable communities. “A solidarity champion’s league win this season,” as he called it, “would further prove the fact that Barcelona is still the best team in the world.” The Catalans, who lifted last year’s edition after trouncing Manchester United in the final (2-0), face Bundesliga side Stuttgart two weeks from now in a do-or-die home clash. Laporta was speaking to Times Sport while on a three-day visit in which he toured Kiziba refugee camp located in Karongi district, Western Province. “We feel more satisfied by creating solidarity with the vulnerable; it gives the players and fans the feeling of ownership and team spirit. These are opportunities to implement other projects beyond football,” he said. Barcelona Foundation supports activities and infrastructures in two other refugee camps; Nyabiheke in Gatsibo district and Gihembe camp in the Northern Province. Ends
