The Byumba outfit recorded their sixth straight victory of the second round last Sunday after a 27-22 win over fellow debutants Gafunzo. The win cemented Gicumbi’s dominance at the top and maintains a two-point lead over the league reigning championships KIE who are second with 34 points after earning points by default over Kist. Rwanda National University and School of Finance and Banking were also on the winning end after victories over APR and Police. These victories took UNR and SFB ahead of Gafunzo though the latter still has a game in hand advantage. In the ladies’ league, Gitarama’s St. Joseph moved into second place after a 34-21 victory over APPEC Remera Rukoma. Table leaders UNR were gifted free points after Cyuru’s failure to show up. Ends
