Tetteh linked to Rwandan job

GHANA’S Under-20 World Cup winning coach Sellas Tetteh is in Kigali to begin talks with the Ministry of Sports and Culture (Minispoc) which could see him handling either Amavubi Stars or the Junior Wasps (U-20 side). The Permanent Secretary in Minispoc, Jean Pierre Karabaranga confirmed the development yesterday saying that the ministry wants Tetteh to handle the Junior Wasps ahead of the 2011 African Youth Championship which will be held in Tripoli, Libya. “Tetteh is in the country and we want him to handle our U-20 side. If we reach a deal, he will manage the team for the Africa Youth Championship as well as Fifa U-20 World Cup,” Karabaranga said. However, Rwanda’s football federation (Ferwafa) boss, Brig. Gen. Jean Bosco Kazura is not ruling out a possibility of the Ghanaian handling Amavubi Stars. “Handling the Amavubi Stars is another possibility we are not ruling out.” Should Tetteh fall for the Amavubi job, he will take over from caretaker coach Eric Nshimiyimana and will have among other goals to qualify the team to the 2012 Nations Cup. Tetteh rose to prominence as Ratomir Dujkovic’s assistant during Ghana’s 2006 World Cup campaign. He then took charge of the Black Stars after the 2008 Nations Cup helping the team reach the second stage of the qualifiers with four wins in five games before being replaced by Serbian Milovan Rajevac. Last year in Kigali, he masterminded Ghana’s 2009 Africa Youth Nations Cup triumph and followed it up with another stimulating performance at the 2009 Fifa U-20 World Cup were Ghana lifted the trophy after beating Brazil on penalty shoot-outs.
