Brochette or the traditional?

The first time you set foot in Kigali you will hear everyone talking about brochette “have you tasted brochette” some one will always inquire. At its sight you will start salivating just a like a dog that has just smelt meat in the nearby neighborhood. Brochette is a delicacy of meat served on skewers; it is arranged and mixed with sweet green pepper and onions, normally accompanied with either boiled Irish potatoes or matooke. While it is brochette, the most favorite here in Rwanda- nyama choma will serve the same taste in Uganda. The word brochette might confuse you, it only means “meat on the skewen” so do not miss out on the special taste go ahead and make an order you will get the difference. Brochette can be made with beef, goat and even pork depending on what one prefers to have. It is on the menu in all restaurants, you will get it any where and at a very affordable price. It is meat that would not pass unnoticed because of the way it is arranged on the skewers with onions and sweet green pepper, which gives it a good taste better than nyama choma. Meanwhile brochette and nyama choma are closely the same apart from the names they are given, brochette is a French word which means skewer in English. This kind of meat is popular in almost all the African countries; it is the typical way of roasting meat. The only difference brochette has over nyama choma is that; it is arranged on the skewer with pepper and onions its delicacy depends on the way it is prepared.
