SOUTHERN PROVINCE MUHANGA — Over 700 members undergoing informal education training-itorero- in Muhanga district have dug trenches and terraced land valued at over seven hundred thousand francs.The Itorero that was officially launched on November 19 by Minister of commerce, industry, investment promotion tourism and cooperatives Protais Mitali have been engaged in various community development activities and trained on government policies. Lambert Nkundineza, the chief supervisor of the programme said on Wednesday at the ACEJ site that the work was geared towards controlling soil erosion.“The motivated participants have dug 1000 meters of trenches and made 2 hectares of contour terraces in Muhanga sector and the activities have financial value estimated at about Frw700.000 and 2million. It is geared towards fighting soil erosion that has previously eroded the area and the participants are proud to be part of the implementation of the performance contracts in Muhanga,” Nkundineza said. Nkundineza added that: “participants would play a big role in redeeming the Rwandan culture and educating others on the need to fight the existing Genocide ideology that has tainted the province.” Anatoli Nkubito, one of the participants said the group has been involved in sporting activities and also established a media group that keeps the participants informed and offers morale.
